Compliance Officer Boot Camp
What is Healthcare Compliance?

The Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (PPACA) of 2010 indicates
compliance programs will become
mandatory as a condition of enrollment
in the Federal health care programs, a
requirement confirmed by Daniel R.
Levinson of the Office of Inspector
General in his testimony to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce,
Subcommittee on Health on September 22, 2010

The AAPC created the Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO™) credential.
MCHC instructor Joseph Newsome, CPC, CPC-H CPCO, CPMA, CPPM, CPC-I, CEMC,
passed the exam and has created the training program used in the Compliance Officer
Boot Camp.

This 3-day training camp will review common compliance issues, rules, regulations, case
studies and more.  Developing a Compliance Plan to comply with PPACA enrollment
requirements is only the beginning.

NOTE:  Class materials such as PowerPoint slides, worksheets, etc may NOT be used as
a resource on the exam, however printouts of official sources located in the back on the
course binder MAY be used as a resource on the exam.

CPCOs will have demonstrated knowledge of:  (published by the AAPC)
  • The OIG Compliance Guidance for Individual and Small Group Physician Practices,
Clinical Laboratories, and Third Party Billing Companies
  • Compliance program effectiveness
  • Key healthcare fraud and abuse laws including the False Claims Act, Stark Laws,
and Anti-kickback Statute, including the associated penalties

"I just took the CPCO test last
Saturday.  Passed it on the first
try.  It really prepared me for the
exam and what resources to
bring to the test."
